The Exo-Trainer
Introducing the Exo-Trainer by Lucian. The actual unit you are looking at is one of several dozen that were originally designed and built by Lucian in the 1980’s as a means of countermeasure against micro-gravity induced musculo-skeletal atrophy for use aboard the (now non-existent) space station “Freedom” or on a manned trip to Mars. (The current space station replaced the “Freedom” design and is designated Space Station “Alpha” – but is also called the International Space Station or ISS).

The Exo-Trainer was designed to support and maintain physical performance in humans and is capable of training the entire body as a means of maintaining fitness, as well as, performing functional physical therapy and rehabilitation. The all-in-one exoskeletal design is based on the human endoskeletal system and is functionally derived from bio-locomotion dynamics. It can be used to maintain physical performance capabilities by utilizing specific force vector alignments of the limbs and the precise application of non-gravitationally-based loads on each of the primary and secondary kinematic joints in any combination.

By adjusting the load application and the motion control of the user’s limbs, the Exo-Trainer can be used to recreate the same force dynamics that the body uses to perform normal type exercises or activities. This versatility allows the unit to be used for flexibility training exercises and protocols as well as (separate) typical strength training exercises, aerobic exercises and even high output endurance training protocols. It was manufactured as a product for a short period of time and briefly appeared in the Sharper Image Catalog* (where it quickly sold to an untold number of professional athletes and Hollywood celebrities) and subsequently became the basis for numerous exoskeletal robot projects worldwide.

* Thanks to Howard for allowing me to use his unit as the basis for a new product design for the open market.

The Problem

How do we provide broadband coverage for ALL of the rural U.S. population?

The Solution

Planet TV has the only realistic and affordable solution to provide EVERY rural resident in the country with wireless broadband. This plan is faster, cheaper and has a lower carbon footprint than any other cable, fiber or wireless idea. It is based on a civilian version of an AWACS plane and the old Stratovision concept from the late 1940’s.

Transcript
Welcome to Planet TV –
I’m Lucian.

I’ve been working on some very big and important stuff. For those of you who have read about me or have watched the show for some time, you know something about what I do. Basically, I solve problems… no… I’m not a hitman. The problems I solve are bigger than that. For the first time ever, I’m going to show you one of the problems I’ve been working on.

On 9/11 almost every communication system in Lower Manhattan failed. In fact, even the few government systems that continued to work, did not actually function as intended for complete emergency system command and control.

Three years later, hurricane Katrina showed that the emergency communication systems employed by government (as well as commercial systems) were still vulnerable to natural disasters.

As you are probably aware, analog television in the United States ended on June 12. As part of that transition, the FCC held out a large chunk of radio spectrum in the 700MHz band. This chunk of radio spectrum was intended to provide a nationwide emergency broadband service that included an emergency communication system that was impervious to natural or man-made disasters and that covered the entire country.

Ending last summer, the majority of the other spectrum was auctioned off by the FCC for use by telecommunication companies and others. However, the 700MHz emergency public services spectrum had a minimum bid of $1.3 billion dollars. Not one telecommunication company placed the bid… not one. This is because there is not a single commercial technology that is capable of providing a service impervious to natural or man-made disasters and is capable of covering every inch of the country. In fact, there is only one military technology that is capable of this feat. And that technology is the AWACS.

The AWACS is a system used by the United States military to provide battlefield and theater-wide communications. The system routes all communication through the airborne assets and uses no permanent ground based infrastructure. Hence the usefulness in battle – nothing that happens on the ground can disrupt communication. Therefore, command and control can be maintained.

Here’s my solution for the problem of a nationwide emergency communication network. I have the only FAA certified wireless mesh and emergency services communication system based on a civilian version of the military AWACS and including a new emergency services version of a military video communicator system that I designed.

My system uses long-range highly fuel efficient jets that fly at 45,000 feet and use the 700MHz spectrum to connect the personnel communicators with each other. This spectrum is the same as the high UHF channels which can reach deep into buildings, basements, valleys and even canyons. Best of all, this system is independent of anything on the ground or any other network. If the internet goes down, it does not affect our system. If the phone systems (cell or landline) go down, if the power is disrupted, if bombs are going off or planes are crashing down… our system is unaffected. Just like the military AWACS, our system sends and receives all communication through the private IP network riding on the wireless mesh covering the United States.

And this is not science fiction that I’m talking about. This system exists right now and has hundreds of hours of testing and performance data to prove it works. My system is cheaper, faster to deploy and environmentally less-intrusive than any other alternative. Plus, it has a lower carbon footprint for build-out, operation and maintenance than any other potential system that has been developed (or proposed) to address this capability. Most importantly, short of a nuke, my system cannot be taken offline by anything…

Here’s what’s happening now. The FCC is currently holding public hearings on what to do with the 700MHz public service spectrum. One of the ideas is to break the nationwide block up into different sections. If this spectrum is broken up, this is what will happen. There will be no incentive to cover the wilderness portions of the country. And there may be no incentive to cover the rural sections of the country (just as there has been no incentive to provide broadband service to most rural communities and wilderness areas. And even if other telecoms tried to cover these areas, they couldn’t do it without digging cable trenches, stringing wires or planting radio towers all over the countryside. And the cost of any other proposed system would start at about ten times the price of my system. Most importantly, these other plans will not have the video communicator system and the civilian AWACS that provides complete protection against failure from anything short of a nuke and covers the whole country from coast to coast – even in the middle of the wilderness. The likelihood is the big telecommunication companies will just try to put a private phone network over the system. That technology will not help the emergency services communication efforts. What is needed here is new technology and new ideas. That’s what I do.

My plan uses technology and systems that are capable of functioning during anything up to and including war – because they were designed from the same systems that we actually use during war. Nothing in the commercial market even comes close… And speaking of the commercial market. My system can also provide the first wireless broadband service that covers every square inch of the country – even while moving. Full broadband speed on any device anywhere. And I do mean anywhere. My service will provide the first high-speed data and communication link that will work in any location, regardless of how remote. And there’s a lot more that it can do.

I need your help. Please go to the site and sign the petition to demand that the FCC review this plan. Share this video and this story. You can also follow my attempts to reach the country’s billionaires and our political leaders as I put together this $15.0 billion project. So follow me on Twitter. And if you know any billionaires, tell them to drop me a note.

BTW, This project is much larger than I have been able to tell you about and includes a new and larger future for the Planet TV Station. Stay tuned for more.

Planet TV announces the Video Wall

Introducing

The Planet TV Video Wall

Watch Planet TV on our new Video Wall

I have some very exciting news for all of you loyal viewers. First, I will be back with new content in everything (including Planet TV Show). Second, I have spent a considerable effort building a new interactive way of viewing Planet TV and its shows. If you are using Firefox as a browser, then you will need to load the free plugin. The plugin is both free in cost and free from bugs or spyware. It also works for Microsoft Internet Explorer, but only on Windows machines (and only on XP or Vista). If you do not already use Firefox, I would humbly suggest giving it a try. Most serious web surfers have (at least) two browsers. It will only take about seven minutes and a small amount of hard-drive space to automatically install both Firefox and the free plugin. I know this may seem like a lot to ask of viewers, but I cannot stress how painless the process is. Once you have the plugin loaded, take a look at the Video Wall. It is absolutely stunning. And the interactivity is remarkable. It’s like Tivo on steroids… only you don’t have to actually record or download anything.

The video wall has the entire archive loaded into it, but I am still encoding and uploading the flash source video files (and I will be re-encoding for much higher quality soon after that). All of the episodes from number 100 to 194 (the last show) are loaded for immediate viewing. The download links for the files are located at each episode page and are accessible from inside the Video Wall (click on the blue 3D Globe). All of the download files are not uploaded onto my new server farm yet… I’m only one man after all ;)

Thanks for your patience. I hope you find the Video Wall as stunning (and useful) as I do.

Enjoy,

Lucian

I just signed my first book deal!

Hey everyone,

I just penned the contract for my first book deal. How cool is that? This is for the humor/satire book called “Being Papi” I wrote last August. The publishers should be finished with the art for the cover and the final editor’s tweaking by summer. They are a traditional publishing company, so the books will be available through normal brick and mortar bookstores, as well as numerous online outlets. I will be making some appearances for book signings, but I don’t know where or when, yet. This is very exciting for me and I’m looking forward to doing something fun (and not involved in my normal line of work).

I’m sorry it’s been so long since I’ve been able to produce anything, but I’ve been out of the country for a bit. I promise, I’m planning on producing more content soon. I’ll be reading several more chapters from the “Ancients of Eden” as well as a few excerpts from “Being Papi.” And I have several new things that I will be rolling out over the next month or so. Thanks for all the notes and comments.

Ancients of Eden now up to no. 11 on iTunes Lit. Podcasts

Hey Everyone,
The show was temporarily pulled off of iTunes featured front page in the Podcast Literature section. I accidently forgot to include the new iTunes tag for the Literature section when I updated the feed on Sunday evening (to comment on being put on the iTunes front page featured section of the Literature Podcasts). When iTunes cycled through on Monday evening, the show no longer had the iTunes tag and was pulled off of the Literature featured page. It was kinda dumb on my part :-) But I have fixed it, and the audio book reading of the Ancients of Eden is now back on the iTunes featured page. In fact, we have moved up to position 11 (wooo hooo!). And for those who have asked how to quickly get to the iTunes Literature Podcast section, the easiest way is to press the “Subscribe with iTunes” button below. That will take you to the Planet TV Network page in iTunes. While you are there, you can leave a comment or review by pressing the “Write a Review” link on the lower right hand part of the page and following the prompts. To get to the Literature page, click the words “Category: Literature” written below my name in the top left corner next to the Ancients of Eden Logo art. That will take you directly to the front page of the Literature section. Ancients of eden is on the front page featured section in the middle of the window. Here is a screen shot.

New Logo from my amazing wife

My wife Marie is a formally trained artist. Her hand drawn pen and ink works are truly amazing. She took a couple of minutes to put together a small logo for the new audio book.

PS. This is computer generated art, not hand drawn. She is also a very incredible computer artist. Sorry if I was confusing.

Wow! I couldn’t get them uploaded fast enough

Hey everyone,

It is hard to believe but since I posted the first chapter on Friday evening, about 20-30K of you all showed up at iTunes. The Planet TV Show audio book podcast of “The Ancients of Eden” has been moved to the front page featured section of the iTunes Arts-Literature podcast page. We are featured with the Harry Potter podcasts and the podio books of Scott Sigler (a well known podcast author).

Thank you. I am both humbled and amazed at the audience response to this, my first novel. I hope you continue to download the audiobook… and I hope that my story weaving and telling is entertaining to you. That is why I am doing this. I am a story teller. I’m practicing for when I start telling stories to my son (which should be soon now).

Thanks again,
Lucian

PSS. Sorry about the dyslexia and the dates. Duh. Mistakes propagate with auto-fill word-processors. Sorry. It should all be fixed.

Lucian is back. I’ve been healing and writing.

Hey Everyone,

My apologies for being gone so long without a note. After I returned in the beginning of June, I was suddenly sent back out. When I returned the first week of July, I needed to recuperate. I am still recovering.

First, PTV is on temporary hiatus pending my physical recovery.

Second, I have spent the last month healing and taking advantage of some very interesting opportunities that have presented themselves in Hollywood. During the last 9 weeks (while resting) I have written two novels and a screenplay adaptation from one of the novels (you didn’t think I would just lay around did you?). Anyway, the big novel is a story that I have had in my head for a couple of years now. The title of this novel is “The Ancients of Eden” and the story is an action adventure with a little science fiction and some intriguing history thrown in. And it is very timely, because it concerns the Mayan Calendar Long Count… which ends on December 21, 2012.

I have also written a humor book about becoming a husband and father called “Being Papi”…

And I wrote a screenplay adaptation of “The Ancients of Eden” called “122112 The Long Count”…

As I mentioned earlier, I am going to hire a new female host for the Planet TV Show. When I find the replacement, the shows will continue. Until then, the archive will remain posted and the feeds will stay active. But the feeds will contain new material as well.

I am gong to produce “The Ancients of Eden” as a podcast audio book. I will only read the first 25-50 percent of the text, because the point of writing the book is to sell copies of the actual book (which is what both my wife and my son hope will happen).

I hope you don’t feel that I am holding you hostage, because I’m telling you upfront that the audio book podcast is only going to be partial.

Unlike the back cover or a literature review, I am not going to just show you the best snippets of my book and hope that you will shell out the money to buy it… and hope that it is any good. I am willing to let you hear between 25 percent up to 50 percent of the story, in the hopes that you will find both my story-telling and writing worth the price of a book. And I am a writer by trade. I want to sell these types of books so I can avoid other types of writing assignments. I hope you understand.

Anyway, I’m posting the first chapter in MP3 with this entry. I will have music and other niceties later. I will also post the fact sheet that goes with the novel and the teaser for the screenplay shorty.

Thanks for staying subscribed.

Lucian

Back in the saddle

Hey Everyone,

I have been traveling for the past few weeks, but I am back in town and all of my reports have been filed. I will be posting new shows today or tomorrow.

In the meantime, I just spoke with Ed O’Neill who is one of the stars of the upcoming HBO series John from Cincinnati. Ed and I met back in the mid-nineties and I have followed his career ever since. The new HBO series has a wonderfully quirky concept, some amazing surfing scenes and maybe even a little extra-terrestrial sci-fi twist. The Premiere is this Sunday, June 10th. I am hoping to arrange an interview with Ed for Planet TV sometime soon.
